The team at The Plumbing Corp have created this quick and simple guide which will explain the best ways to deal with mould in your bathroom We understand that bathroom mould is an issue many households experience. Mould forms as a result of condensation, and due to the higher humidity in the bathroom, this is why we see it happen so much in this particular room in the house. Keep reading to find out not only how to remove the mould, but how to prevent it in the future How to clean mould off It’s really important that you stay on top of cleaning the bathroom. This will actually prevent mould building up, but if it’s too late for that, it’s time for some elbow grease. It can be extremely tough to remove ALL bathroom mould form a surface, especially if it has built up over a very long time, so if this is the case, you may need some industrial mould killer substances. If that isn’t the case, and you just have small areas of mould developing, then cleaning the affected area with something as simple as hot, soapy water, 3 times a week should start to work away the mould. Adding a little bleach to the water can also be effective to get rid of the mould, depending on how deeply affected the area is. For best results, use a sponge with a rough side on it, so that it gives added pressure on the mould. The above steps work well for both wall and ceiling mould. If the affected area is on tiles, the approach is slightly different. You are best getting a specific mould removal substance. How to prevent mould? Now that you have started to clean off the mould, it's important you understand how to prevent this happening in the future. Below are some tips: 1) Purchase a squeegee! This is a very cheap yet effective tool to prevent mould build up in your bathroom, especially on tiles surrounding your bath/shower. Here's a link to a Squeegee on Amazon - https://www.amazon.co.uk/Addis-ComfiGrip-Squeegee-Metallic-Graphite/dp/B077RJDV19/ref=sr_1_1?dchild=1&keywords=sqeege%5D&qid=1586700223&sr=8-1 Using this, wipe the tiles down after every shower/bath. This will hugely decrease the amount on water on the surface, therefore preventing mould from starting to develop. Remember, mould loves to develop in humid, damp conditions, so wiping away the water will help combat this! 2) Open a window! Again this simple trick is very effective to prevent mould building up in your bathroom. Getting fresh air into the bathroom after a shower/bath will help release the condensation and overall humidity, meaning mould will struggle to develop on the surfaces. 3) Get some detergent! Your local supermarkets own brand mould prevention spray will do the trick just fine. After you have wiped down your surfaces with the squeegee and opened the window, give the tiles a quick spray with the detergent and this will do wonders for combating the mould developing There you have it.
